Not Just for Humans
Welcome to Doggie Paradise
Rivelyn is a brown Labrador puppy, she was born on 25th September 2024 and she has moved in next door to Terrace Barn.
Rivelyn is looking forward to welcoming canine guests to Terrace Barn. She already knows the way to the river, and can show guests the route, straight from the Barn.
Rivelyn says that the best thing about the barn is that it is walk in, walk out.
She also says that there is a secure area behind the barn of about 150m2, which is good for guests who like to wander off.
The barn is 300m from the nearest road, so it's nice and safe even for escapees.
There are loads of places nearby which are great for dogs, but which Humans like too, such as-
- Ripon Rowel Walk, directly outside the barn is a 50 mile circular walk around Ripon. There are numerous other footpaths in the countryside around the Barn, through fields and along the river Ure.
- Hackfall is a steep woodland walk with Georgian follies along the river Ure at Grewelthorpe (5 miles, free entry).
- Druids Temple is a fantastic recreation of a prehistoric monument with great walks, views to Leighton Reservoir and moorland beyond, and a fabulous dog friendly café (9 miles, free entry).
- Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park is a walk through rhododendron woodland full of amazing sculptures, no dogs in the indoor café, but fine in the outdoor café, near Grewelthorpe (6 miles, entrance fee)
- Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal world heritage site, including the café and visitor centre (8 miles, entrance fee).
- Jervaulx Abbey is a ruined abbey in a mystical landscape, dogs may need to be on the lead if there are sheep in the field (10 miles, donation box)
- Thornborough Henges is a huge neolithic monument of circular earthworks in fields, with long views to the Dales and Moors (2.5 miles. Free entry)
- Brimham Rocks is a collection of weird and wonderful rock formations on the moor (13miles, fee for parking)
- Aysgarth Falls is a spectacular triple fall of waterfalls in woodland (23miles, fee for parking)
- Eavestone Lake is a hidden mystical lake, great for dog walks (10 miles, free)
Dog owners will also be pleased to know that nearly all of the pubs and gastro pubs in the area welcome dogs.
